DETECTIVES in Bolton are appealing for help after concern was raised for a teenager in the town centre.

The ambulance service contacted police at 11.35pm on Wednesday night after they received a report a girl may have harmed herself on St George's Road.

When paramedics arrived she ran away in the direction of Topp Lane, and it is not known if she had any injuries.

Passers-by reported seeing the teenager but, when police arrived, witnesses had left.

The girl is described as white, around 17-years-old, and had dark hair. She was wearing jeans and a cropped top.

Detectives are appealing directly to the girl to contact them and confirm she is all right.

They would also like to hear from the witnesses who saw the girl and spoke to the ambulance crew.

Any one who has any information is asked to contact Bolton CID on 0161 856 5724 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
