WHEN Bolton's dentists say they are prepared to fight anti-fluoride protesters through the courts, (Bolton Evening News, June 15), I think that they have a cheek to come out with a statement like that.
If more of them had stayed within the NHS instead of opting out for the more lucrative private sector, the situation may not have been as bad as it is now.
Also what about this Government's slogan of "Education, Education, Education"?
Surely the Dental Authority could visit nurseries and schools to educate youngsters in dental health.
In fact, they could go further, and invite the children's parents.
The Comment column in the same edition also thinks it is time to hold another referendum, and I agree with that, but the question asked must not be loaded either way.
I am sadly becoming disillusioned with authority in this country.
People talk about us living in a democracy. What is democratic about an unelected quango (SHA) imposing its will on the majority of the people who are against its aim, and they will not be held accountable for any adverse effects?
It is all very well them saying that nothing will be decided until after consultations. We all know what that means.
