UP to 60,000 tickets have been snapped up by Coldplay fans eager to watch the band play at the Reebok Stadium next month.

But there are still 6,000 tickets left.

Tickets have been selling fast for the two summer Concerts at the Reebok on July 4 and 5 since the release of X&Y, the band's third album, earlier this month.

Up to 16,000 people will stand on the pitch out of a capacity 33,000 crowd.

Coldplay are the latest in a number of big name acts to perform at the stadium, following the likes of Sir Elton John and Lulu.

Their two date show at the Reebok forms part of the band's world tour.

Collette Goodwin, events manager at the Reebok Stadium, said: "Tickets have sold as fast as we expected. Coldplay have not toured for 18 months and they have just brought out a new album. The first day has sold well but the second date was not selling as well until a couple of weeks ago, when sales really picked up.

"There are still a few thousand tickets left but we are expecting both concerts to be sold out."

Coldplay, fronted by Devon born Chris Martin, have become one of the country's biggest bands both in the UK and overseas. They first emerged on to the music scene in 2000 with their debut album Parachutes.Their latest album has sold 500,000 copies in the UK and is number one in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic.

Tickets cost £32.50 each and are available from the 24 credit card hotline, 0871 220 0260.
