FLORENT Laville is confident he will be able to put his fitness worries behind him and pick up the threads of his career.

The big central defender, who was a revelation at the heart of the Wanderers defence before suffering a long term knee injury, could return to France although he also has an opportunity to stay in England.

He has been released by the Whites, having failed to regain a first team place after recovering from a serious knee injury he suffered in September, 2003.

Nancy and Bastia are keen on the 31-year-old former Lyon defender but Laville, who had a spell on loan at Coventry last season, says he also has the option of staying in England.

"At Bolton, everything went off smoothly until my knee injury," he said. "I have adapted well to English football and the coach trusted me.

"When I came back, Sam Allardyce told me to hold on but I was not part of his plans any more. My period at Coventry allowed me to be reassured about my knee and I found the pace again. It was a good experience, even if it was not at the top level."

Laville, was nicknamed 'The Rock' during his early career in France because of his solid and consistent performances.

That name followed him to the Reebok where he quickly emerged as a fans favourite.

He said: "The positive aspect is if my knee resisted there, it can resist anywhere. Now I have turned the page and I am looking for a club.

"Clubs are cautious about my knee, however, there is no worry."

Nineteen-year-old defender Charlie Comyn-Platt, who was also released by Wanderers, has followed his former Reebok team-mate, winger Ricky Shakes, in signing for Swindon Town.
