BIKERS are being urged to carry identity cards to make them easier to identify in the event of an accident.

The Biker Cards have been launched by the North West Air Ambulance which said motorcyclists normally went on the road without personal possessions because of the lack of space available to carry things.

This poses problems for air ambulance staff when they wish to identify a casualty or notify next of kin.

The cards, which come in a standard credit card size, may speed up the time needed to administer appropriate medical care and save lives, the charity told BBC Lancashire.

They can be obtained free of charge by calling 0151 527 2511.
