AN author whose debut novel could soon be released nationwide, has set up a website to help other writers.

Kevin O'Hara, of the Cedars, Chorley, has sold more than 1,000 copies of his book, Tell Someone?

The novel is a gritty and humourous tale set in the world of amateur football.

It is inspired by Kevin's own experiences playing in the leagues in Chorley.

Kevin has found that building up contacts and mutual support is vital to aspiring authors.

Now, through his website, he hopes to provide a forum for people to share ideas and contact him. It's at www.tellsomeone.org.uk.

Kevin said: "By self-publishing, I've been through the ups and downs of the business, such as having to approach bookshops and sellers.

"I want the site to act as a forum for writers in Chorley so they an ask for advice and help each other out. I have already helped one author with some marketing advice."

Kevin, 37, has acquired a literary agent, Judith Chilcote, who is representing him in his efforts to get a wider distribution deal for the book.

He donates 50p from the sale of each book to Derian House children's hospice, and so far more than £600 has been raised.

He is hoping to boost this further with a promotion at WH Smiths in Chorley whereby anyone who buys the book will receive a five day free pass to Astley Park Fitness Centre - valued at £10.
