COACH Darren Abram turned on his team after Leigh's Powergen Challenge Cup quarter-final humiliation at the KC Stadium.

Furious Abram didn't hold back after seeing his side's chances of a semi-final place disappear before half time.

In a shocking first 40 minutes the Centurions leaked six first half tries two of them length of the field interceptions to trail 34-0 at the break.

Although Centurions lifted their game in the second half to outscore Hull 14-12, Abram pointed the finger of blame at his own players.

"We've worked for two weeks on plans and ideas to win this game. We've practised for hours and hours, but when those players crossed that white line they ignored everything," he said.

"Yes I'm furious, who wouldn't be after a display like that? Every player needs to look at himself in the mirror and ask themselves some serious questions."

Leigh had pushed Hull all the way for over an hour in a Super League meeting between the sides just eight days earlier but once Shayne McMenemy had pushed through some weak defence for a seventh minute try, the Centurions folded alarmingly.

Leigh's plan to contain international half-back Richard Horne backfired as the Hull scrum-half scored twice in seven minutes either side of a try from Tom Saxton. At 22-0 Hull were as good as in the semi-finals.

Danny Halliwell had a try disallowed in the corner, but Hull soon recovered their poise and punished Leigh further with tries from Jamie Thackray and Nathan Blacklock.

Leigh showed greater determination after the break and pulled an early try back through sub Richard Marshall.

Hull played well within themselves in the second quarter but extended their lead with a burst of two tries in two minutes. Ritchie Barnett was awarded a penalty try and stand-off Paul Cooke took his points tally in the match to 18 with a try to add to his seven goals.

Rob Jackson and Halliwell went over for late tries to give the scoreline some respectability.
