MANCHESTER'S gay and lesbian community is gearing up for the annual Pride festival, one of the largest events of its kind in Europe.
Organisers say this year's 10-day event includes a gay heritage trail and a first this year, the PrideGames 2005.
The games are being organised by sports groups across Greater Manchester.
The carnival parade takes place on Saturday, August 27, where individuals, community groups, organisations and businesses, including the Royal Air Force and a mountain rescue team.
The festival takes place from August 19-29.
