ON Sunday, July 10, I would like to invite the people of Westhoughton to a 60th Anniversary of VE Day and VJ Day service, at the Parish Church of St Bartholomew, a short Service of Remembrance at the war memorial, and a parade.
The parade will assemble at Greenfields Private Members' Club, rear of 68 Wigan Road, at 9.20am, depart for the Parish Church of St Bartholomew at 9.40am for the service at 10am, followed by a short service of remembrance at the war memorial at 10.45am.
The parade will then march up Church Street, along Lord Street, The Avenue, Central Drive, Bolton Road and Market Street, returning to Greenfields Private Members' Club.
I hope that you will be able to join us on this special occasion.
Cllr Arthur Price
Town Mayor of Westhoughton
