IN reply to Mr or Mrs Kent, "Don't have a go at Geldof" (Letters,June 21). First and foremost, I do not need sympathy.

Paul McCartney is one of the millionaires I was referring to who, by the way, comes from Liverpool and lives in Scotland.

Elton John, Status Quo, Bono and U2, even Bob Geldof himself - are all not short of a penny or two.

If you think the money goes direct to help these poor, think again because, by the time various organisations have taken their share, there is precious little left to help the African countries concerned.

Then there are the fat cats riding around in their limousines and living in their marble palaces and dont give a thought to their own people, unless it concerns genocide - Saddam Hussain and Mugabe to name two of a very long list.

Oh, by the way, I give to Water Aid, and I am a born-again Christian.

My husband fought for his country overseas, but to die in agony because insufficient funding was given to hospitals to stem infections is not Christian.

Furthermore, America's economy does not concern me.

Remember four little words - charity begins at home.
