CANCER treatment centre, The Christie Hospital has appointed a new chief executive.
Caroline Shaw will take up the post in September after working as chief executive of the South Manchester University Hospitals Trust. In her new role she will be responsible for 2,000 staff and will have an annual budget of £95million at Europes largest cancer treatment centre.
Ms Shaw said: "The Christie has a national reputation for exceptional patient care and it would be a privilege to be part of it.
"Exciting times are ahead and I want to continue to develop patient services and plans to make the Christie a truly world-class cancer centre."
Thirty years ago Ms Shaw's grand mother was treated at the Christie.
She said: "She was so well looked after and we were really impressed with her care."
