THE ongoing saga of Bolton town centre continues with Marks & Spencer being refused the old Alders Store at Middlebrook.
Bolton is not shopper friendly.
If you can get through the many road works, which seem to go on for ever, and then find a parking space, you are likely to be stung by an over-zealous parking attendant for some minor infringement.
The centre is dirty with chewing gum on pavements and litter.
When you pass the closed-down shops, you encounter cheap pound shops in abundance. I have a solution for Alders - all the market stalls which will become redundant because of the councils involvement with the Market Hall could transfer their stalls to Alders and enjoy, Im sure, increased trade.
There is no parking problems there and no parking fees.
The council will then be able to change Bolton to what ever it sees fit but the small trader will be able to carry on trading.
