CHILDREN in Charnock Richard are fighting back against vandals who have damaged their school.
More than 150 children from Christ Church Primary have been working with community beat manager PC Geoff Allen and have designed posters and leaflets giving the message "Please don't vandalise our school."
The children aged between four and 11 were given this task as part of a project working with police to combat trespass and vandalism that has taken place previously at the school, especially over the holiday periods.
The designs will be judged by the Mayor of Chorley, Coun Marie Gray and the inspector for the area, Janet Edmondson.
It will then be used on leaflets and posters be distributed in the local community.
PC Geoff Allen said: "The judging of the competition has been hard as all the children have produced some very good designs.
"The posters will be displayed locally and the leaflets distributed - we will also target those individuals who have been guilty of this type of vandalism.
"This may involve a visit to their home and parents to reinforce the message as part of Operation Summer Nights which targets anti-social behaviour and criminal damage."
Mike Walmsley, headteacher at the school, said: "Sadly the school has been the target of countless acts of vandalism over the last three years.
"Our pupils are upset by the damage caused by a small number of local youths - some of whom are past pupils of the school.
"PC Allen has worked closely with the school and pupils to try to put an end to these acts of vandalism."
