HORSEWOMAN Emily Green is international class - at the age of 15.
The Bolton School pupil has been called up to the British Dressage Under 21s team for a four-nation tournament in Wicklow, Ireland, on Saturday and Sunday.
Emily, who lives at Longshaw Farm, Edgworth, will ride her 15.3 hands, bay-coloured horse Max in two competitions on each day.
Emily only began serious dressage competition under strict British Dressage rules in January after some success at gymkhanas and country shows.
Her consistent high scores in eight competitions since then have brought her to the attention of the selectors.
"When I first heard about the invitation, I thought I may just be competing as an individual, perhaps to gain experience.
"I never thought I would actually be on the team," said Emily, who has stepped up her preparation with Ribchester-based trainer Adam Murdin.
Max, an eight-year-old part-bred Arab, was bought for £3,000 in 2002 by parents Ken and Claire Green.
Mrs Green said: "Emily is a very determined rider. When she sets her mind to do something, she usually achieves it.
"The European Championships and Olympics may not just be a pipe dream."
She will join her husband, Ken, and Emily's grandparents in Wicklow.
