FORMERLY the exclusive property of one team, the leadership of the BSF Men's Tennis League twice changed hands in a dramatic two weeks.
Going into the penultimate halfway stage match, long-time Division One leaders Holcombe Brook SC A came a cropper after a calculated gamble on team selection when they visited Tyldesley A.
Even though they languished just above the bottom of the Division Tyldesley, are no pushovers, and clearly were not prepared to play patsy on the night.
Tyldesley's college stars Jonathan Kinsella and Nicholas Heggarty won all three sets as Holcombe's two-year undefeated streak came to an end.
This set up a fascinating halfway stage crunch match between the new Premier leaders South College A and the now second-placed Holcombe Brook SC A, but Brook were outstanding on the day to claim a 9-0 whitewash.
Lostock A took a decisive step to making Division Two their own this week through an important win over Leigh CC A. Ably lead by Lostock's top couple Lal/Robinson, who were undefeated on the night, their team beat second-placed Leigh who now lie six points adrift.
Claremont cruised to a 5-4 victory over third bottom Markland Hill C in Division Three, and results went according to the form book in Divison Four and Five, where leaders David Lloyd (Bolton) A and South College C continue to lead the charge.
Only three matches remain in the junior league, with Tyldesley A and Barrow Bridge the only undefeated sides throughout all six divisions.
