REGARDING Marks and Spencer's failed application to open a store on Middlebrook.
When the people of Horwich said they didn't want Middlebrook, did it make any difference? No, the planning people still let it go ahead.
Their answer was "it will be a good thing for Horwich and Westhoughton and will bring people into town".
Now it's a different story, as we are stuck with Middlebrook.
I am sure I speak for many people in Horwich when I say we would welcome a big store to come, as there are people who can't get to Bolton for various reasons. Bolton will still have Marks and Spencer and other big stores. If people choose to come to Middlebrook, they will, with or without big stores.
The whole point of Middlebrook in the first place was to attract people.
Also, Middlebrook was built on Horwich land, but the planning people want to take the glory and call it Bolton.
Middlebrook - should that not be Horwich Middlebrook?
