IT must be something to do with being married to a Hollywood film star, but no one works an audience these days like Coldplay frontman Chris Martin writes Andy Scoble

Gwyneth Paltrow's hubby had a packed Reebok Stadium audience in the palm of his hand on the second night of this double Bolton date during the Summer Concerts at the Reebok adventure.

And maybe he had a word with someone upstairs too, as for the second evening running the clouds parted and the rain stopped just in time for the show to begin.

Sticking to the set which served them so well the previous night, Coldplay opened with the excellent Square One, followed by Politik and an immaculate version of old favourite Yellow, the crowd singing along all the way.

Martin amended lyrics to include references to Bolton as the band coasted through tracks from their three albums to date.

And as on Monday, they finished with Fix You, Martin telling the crowd it was their big chance to appear in a video.

Special mention to support band Doves, who revealed why they too are a major attraction on the festival circuit.

And how polite it all was! There is plenty of room for good old fashioned rocknroll in sweaty, beer soaked clubs, but there is also a place for stadium rock at its best. Coldplay are at the peak of the powers, and the Reebok Stadium did them proud.

l Extra car parking was laid on at the Reebok Stadium following traffic jams after Coldplays concert on Monday.

Traffic came to a standstill for more than two hours on Monday night. Stadium officials organised an extra 1, 500 parking spaces at the Bolton West Services on the M61 for last nights performance. A park and ride scheme was run at a cost of £5 per vehicle.
