Breightmet Angling Society faced the first match of a three match series for the Secretary’s Trophy which took place on Sunday, March 21.
The overnight frost took its toll and the water’s carp failed to put in an appearance on the club’s waters at The Croft.
The full turnout of the club’s members all caught some fish. Top man of tthebohe day was Steve Tyldesley who pole fished shot worm to catch roach, skimmer bream for a winning weight of 6lb 5oz. They were one ounce in front of second-placed Alan Humphries, who fished pole and maggot for a mixed bag of roach and skimmer bream.
Weights: 3rd M Thompson 4.14oz, 4th Fred Athertobn 4lb 11oz, 5th V McCormick 4lb 3oz and 6th Tony Smethurst 3lb10oz. The next match will be on Sunday, April 4.
