Tony Workman showed his class when he was the first Lancashire Road Club rider home in the Combined Clubs 10-mile time trial in Garstang.
Workman completed the course in 22 minutes 35 seconds, just one minute behind the winner.
Jason Tonge (23:14), Jason Wiltshire (23:45), Martin Kerry (24:37), John Bamford (24:45), John Martindale (25:04), Brian Gore (26:30), Steven Horrocks (26:35) and Philip Rowley (30:01) also completed the event.
Carl Potter’s time of 24:26 was enough for him to win the handicap event while, in the tandem event, Bobby Feven and Derek Pritchard crossed the line in 26:21.
On the road racing scene, Dean Higham competed in the Eddie Soens handicap road race in Liverpool Despite being up against some of Britain’s best professionals he managed a very fine top 30 placing.
In the Maxgear Road Race League at Saighton, John Wiltshire and Tony Workman finished in the bunch in the national event whilst Colin Hodgson, Dean Higham and Jon Stokes finished just 37 seconds behind the winner in the regional event.
