IF I ever find myself flat out on the ground and vaguely aware of nearby paramedics, I doubt that their socks will concern me much.
The North West Ambulance Service has banned all uniformed staff from wearing socks decorated with cartoon characters because they are deemed to be unprofessional.
Standards are important and I can see the point in outlawing wrist-watches, visible body piercings, excessive make-up and certain tattoos.
But the socks decision seems a little over the top.
A little humour might even help in some circumstances.
