DIVAS stay clear at the top of the Eagley Winter Rounders League following their 38-run win over third placed BB Belles who could still be in contention due to having three games in hand.
Second placed Davies XI beat Astley Bridge Ladies by the same margin and almost the same score. They also have games in hand, so the leaders cannot afford to drop points in their remaining games.
Still unbeaten, Wally’s Eleven moved a point clear of Elton Vale A at the top of the Farnworth League and have a game in hand, but they came close to losing their record beating Capital Catering by just four runs. Leading by 79 to 63 on the first innings, they added 63 and Capital 75 to set up a tense finish.
Elton Vale B remain rooted to the bottom of Section A and their depleted team lost by 56 runs to BYP Ladies A who are now in third spot.
The young Rupert Ladies C team have picked up just four points from eight matches, but they have had glowing reports from their opponents. On Sunday, they played Section B leaders BYP Ladies B and although they lost the game by 20 runs, they won the second innings by 21.
CRS remain second, but they had a close call, beating AJs by a mere eight runs. Blades Barbers by contrast, had the easiest passage of the day, declaring against Hulton Lane Ladies after needing just six second innings runs for victory.
In the Halliwell League, the top two were in opposition and Darcy Blues went two points clear of Dave’s Minibus, beating them by 36 runs after being ten ahead at the interval. After a close first innings, Hunter Ladies powered to a comfortable victory over Bolton Cricket Club.
The other two scheduled games did not take place, but with so many keen youngsters anxious to play, the 28 players combined to play a friendly which turned into a very enjoyable affair. After trailing on the first innings, the youngsters from Bolton Lads & Girls Club, some of whom had not played before, scored nine rounders off the “33 good balls” second innings.
