BUDDING table tennis star Matthew Fields has been called up to the England youth training squad.
The talented 12-year-old has made a big impression recently with success in England ranking tournaments at Burton-on-Trent, Grantham and Blackpool.
Fields, who plays for Hilton in the Bolton League and Team Thameside in the National League, won the Greater Manchester Schools’ championship and will now travel to Doncaster to represent Canon Slade School and Bolton in the English Schools’ championships.
He joins up with the England youth development squad in two weeks’ time at Lilleshall and if he continues to impress could be in line for an England Under-13s cap before he moves up the U15s age group later this year.
