THIS is the stunning interior of Manchester United captain Gary Neville’s dream Harwood home.

The former England defender last week submitted plans for the four-bedroom, zero-carbon home, which he wants to build on his estate on the edges of the West Pennine Moors.

On Tuesday, The Bolton News printed exclusive pictures of the underground mansion, that 34-year-old Neville and his wife, Emma, have spent three years designing.

And new images printed today show the kitchen area, one of the terraces and give a glimpse of the futuristic style the footballer hopes to capture.

As well as a wind turbine — which will also power Neville’s neighbouring 12-bed mansion and supply excess power to the National Grid — the house is built into the hillside meaning it has natural insulation keeping it warm in winter and cooler during the summer months.

The plans show the kitchen as the “heart” of the development with several wings — which have titles such as eat, relax, entertain, work, sleep and play — arranged around the central area like petals on a flower.

Each of the wings will have its own themed-garden including one with a children’s play area, complete with sand pit and trampoline, for daughter Molly, aged one.

The property’s under-floor heating is powered by a ground source heat pump which draws water from the ground — naturally heated by the rocks —and circulates it around the house.

Last month, environmentalist Neville — who has been spotted driving a hybrid Toyota Prius car to training — gave an impressive presentation to planning chiefs in Bolton.

One councillor said: “I think it is fair to say that he impressed everyone with his knowledge of the technology. It is certainly not what you expect from a footballer.”

So advanced is the design of the house that the Government has already declared it a benchmark for future eco-homes.

Architect Stuart Fraser, of Make Architects, said: “It is great to work with a client who is so passionate about issues and he is hoping this property, if it gets the go-ahead, will raise the bar when it comes to green and sustainable living.”

Neville bought the entire 18th century farming hamlet, off Tottington Road, five years ago so he could create a 12-bedroom mansion for himself and Emma.
