Peter Kay has added more nights to his record-breaking stand-up tour.
The good news is that they will all be in Manchester — but not until September 2011.
The extra dates make it the biggest stand-up comedy tour in UK history, in terms of audience numbers.
That final leg of the tour will be called Peter Kay: The Tour that Doesn’t Tour On Tour — The Farewell Tour.
The first set of 20 dates will be at the MEN Arena in April next year. Later in the year, the comedian will perform in cities including Liverpool, Sheffield, London and Newcastle.
Around 700,000 tickets have been sold already - many in minutes, with fans queuing for hours at arena box offices to secure their seats.
Peter said: “I can’t believe the demand there has been for tickets and I hope that these last dates give people who have not got any yet, to come and see me if they want to.
“It does bother me when people buy tickets and then put them up for sale on the internet at silly prices.
“I hope that these new dates mean fans will be able to get some tickets without having to pay a massive amount for them.”
He added: “It’s a bonus to finish off the tour in Manchester, where I will begin it in April next year. I can’t wait, I want to give everyone who has paid for tickets a cracking night.”
Peter was presented with an Outstanding Contribution to Comedy Award at the British Comedy Awards by author and friend J K Rowling last week.
Tickets will go on sale tomorrow morning at 10am but those who register on Peter’s website, www.peterkay.co.uk, will be able to buy them from 8am.
