Local Band Throwing Pandas will be raising money for the Marie Curie Nurses Appeal next month.
Danny Liptrott and Gemma Mooney, the duo who make up the group, have decided to stage a gig, with the proceeds going towards Marie Curie Cancer Care’s £200,000 target.
The charity wants to raise that amount in Bolton over the next 12 months to provide more free nursing care for terminally ill people. The campaign is being backed by The Bolton News.
Throwing Pandas are one of seven groups who will perform at the Dog and Partridge pub, in Manor Street, in the town centre, on Friday, November 27.
The night starts at 8pm and will include bands The Milk Punx and Bed, duo Kev Bates and Roy Isherwood and soloists Emily Cooke, Don McColl and Paul Ashton.
Danny, aged 26, said: “We heard about the appeal through a friend and decided to do a gig for it.
“We think it’s a great cause and want to raise as much as we can.”
The couple live in Horwich and Danny and Gemma, a student at the University of Bolton, are urging people to support the night.
Danny, who is a postman, added: “People should come along, it’s going to be a great night and it’s for a good cause.”
Admission will be via a donation and there will also be collection buckets around the pub.
