AFTER two matches, three unbeaten teams share the lead in the Farnworth Winter League.
BYP Ladies A had the biggest win of the three, beating The Grapes by 41 runs. Capital Catering won by 28 against Adlington, but declared their second innings as they only needed eight to win after an outstanding first innings.
Wally’s Eleven and Elton Vale A fought out the closest match with Wally’s winning by five runs after leading by two at the interval.
There are also three unbeaten teams in Section B. AJs had an innings win over newcomers Blackrod CC, BYP Ladies B had a comfortable victory over newly-formed Aura Ladies, and CRS beat Blades Barbers by just 12 runs. CRS won the first innings by four and the second by eight, but Blades’ downfall was the bad balls.
Although the young Rupert Ladies C team lost by 24 runs to Hulton Lane Ladies, they put in a good performance, losing the second innings by just six runs.
The Halliwell League is up and running with eight teams, but one new team failed to show. Fortunately, Butchers Arms did turn up to fulfil the fixture against Darcy Blues and are prepared to play regularly if the UCAN Centre withdraw.
Well established Bolton Rugby Club are training up some new players and they recorded a 29-run win over new team Bolton Cricket Club.
