Latest figures show that the number of people issued medication for suspected swine flu rose in Bolton by more than 100 last week.
The figures, released by NHS Bolton show that 392 people were prescribed anti-virals for the week ending Sunday, a jump of 115 from the previous week, when the number of people was 277.
Bolton had experienced nearly two months of decreasing suspected cases, from a peak of 2,285 in mid-July, but cases have fluctuated since mid September.
NHS Bolton says the town is seeing a steady increase in possible patients, similar to the other boroughs in Greater Manchester.
A vaccine for the virus is expected to start arriving at primary care trusts across the region from mid-October.
- The Department of Health is urging people to get immunised against seasonal flu. Every year there are around 8,000 flu-related deaths in the winter months in England and Wales.
