THEIR first new UK album for 25 years sees The Nolans at the top of their form.
Being more relaxed during the recordings (although it was done very quickly), the four sisters have come up with an album that shows that, if anything, their singing has improved with age.
Coleen, Bernie, Linda and Maureen all have a go at the lead vocals but Bernie and Coleen have the lion’s share.
The 16 tracks on this CD can be classed as diva anthems such as ‘It’s Raining Men’, ‘I Will Survive’ and ‘Valerie’.
They stand alongside such songs as ‘Holding Out For A Hero’ and ‘Chain Reaction’.
Of course they couldn’t leave out their own hits and to that end they have re-recorded some of their best known hits: ‘Chemistry’, ‘Attention To Me’ and their biggest – ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’.
The Nolans were the pioneers of Girl Power, and after the years away from the charts, they have returned to reclaim their crown.
The singing shows a maturity that was missing the first time around and this comes only with the confidence they now all have.
The songs are some of the girl’s favourite songs, and let’s face it, they are of the age where they danced to these songs in the discos the first time around.
Highlights include ‘So What’, with lead vocals by Bernie, Linda’s ‘Mercy’ and a stupendous finale with Coleen singing lead on ‘I Will Survive’.
But the real tour-de-force is Coleen’s terrific rendition of ‘Eternal Flame’ that will give you goose pimples.
And, you’ll keep clicking back to ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ which starts the whole thing off.
This CD is a welcome return for The Nolans, coinciding with their hotly anticipated tour.
After you’ve listened to the CD, you’ll definitely be ‘in the mood’ for a good time.
The album was released on 28th September by Universal Pictures Visual Programming Ltd.
