TICKETS are on sale for a Salsa dance contest in aid of the Marie Curie Cancer Care Nurse Appeal.
The daughter-and-mum team behind the Olivia V Heyes Dance Club 2000, in Horwich, are holding a fun competition for budding Salsa dancers.
Olivia and Renee Heyes read about the campaign in The Bolton News and wanted to help.
They were further spurred on because Mrs Heyes’ husband Dennis, aged 61, was diagnosed with oral cancer last year.
He needed surgery and now has regular checks.
Mrs Heyes, aged 62, of Halliwell, said: “We are trying to get as many people as possible involved.” Around 60 people have been learning Salsa for free and will show off their skills at the contest on Sunday, October 18, at Horwich RMI, Ramsbottom Road, from 7.30pm.
Organisers hope more than £3,000 can be raised towards Marie Curie’s £200,000 target.
Everyone is welcome, and there will also be a children’s event.
Tickets cost £7.50 and are available by calling 07740 151517 or from the dance school, which is located at 118a Lee Lane, Horwich.
