Darts legend Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has launched a brand new Darts Zone — at a snooker club.
Rileys — the UK’s largest pool and snooker operator — are introducing the Darts Zones at a number of their 128 clubs nationwide.
And Bolton lad Steve Reeves was one of the first on the oche to play ‘The Power’ after winning a competition to play his hero.
Steve, 38, of Farnworth, who works at Carlsberg UK, said: “These Rileys Darts Zones are something. I play in our super leagues and Rileys facilities are so much better.
“It was my dream to play Phil — although the match didn’t last long.”
Taylor, the 14-time World Champion, was in Rileys, checking out the new playing area, fitted with championship quality boards and hi-tech electronic scoring.
Taylor said: “The sport of darts is on the up and up as more people start playing every week.
“It will do wonders for our game to have a top operator like Rileys bring their club expertise to the development of our game across the country. There will be real benefits for players at all levels.”
Taylor took on – and beat Steve and a number of local league darts players in front of around 200 guests and members.
