THE town is ready to deal with the expected second surge of swine flu, NHS Bolton has confirmed.
The town’s primary care trust formally published a statement of readiness this week, as required by the Department of Health.
Measures outlined in the statement include a local plan to respond to the virus, daily reports to the strategic health authority on the local picture, exercises to test systems if the situation escalates and plans being developed to vaccinate staff.
The Royal Bolton Hospital and Bolton Council are also planning for a second wave of the outbreak.
Last week, the town saw its first rise in suspected swine flu cases in several months, with 151 people issued anti-virals, compared to 116 the week before.
