A YOUNG dancer is ready for international superstardom after landing a major acting role in a big Bollywood movie.

Six months ago Louise Buckley, of Crammond Walk, Halliwell, had left college with almost no acting experience.

Now she could be exposed to an audience of millions, having broken into two of the world’s largest film production centres in Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Miss Buckley plays an English girl in Gentleman, a film about a software company boss and his relationship with his wife.

The 20-year-old’s character is the mistress of the movie’s main character, played by Bollywood star Posani Krishna Murali.

In traditional Bollywood style, Gentleman features extravagant singing and dancing sections, as well as fast-paced action scenes.

Miss Buckley has an hour of screen time in a two-and-a-half-hour movie and she sings two songs.

She said she particularly enjoyed filming a motorbike chase scene, in which she is a pillion passenger to Mr Murali.

Miss Buckley said: “It’s surreal really. I thought I was just going out there to do dancing, but all these opportunities kept coming up.

“I’ve done some acting before, but not much, so it was an amazing experience and I really enjoyed it.

“It was crazy working with Posani. He had four security guards with massive guns whenever he went anywhere.”

Miss Buckley, who returned to England on Tuesday, landed the role after responding to an internet job advert for a dancing part in an Indian music video.

She said: “In England, it’s so hard to get in music videos, so I applied for it and two weeks later I was in India.”

While there, Miss Buckley made contacts in the film industry and was soon inundated with job offers.

She also dances in three other movies — Luck, Shadow and London Dreams — and did modelling and advertising work.

Miss Buckley will return to India for Gentleman’s premiere next month, when she hopes to further her acting career in the country.

Her dad, Keith Buckley, aged 63, of Culham Close, Halliwell, said: “I’m so proud of her. This is the creme de la creme as far as I’m concerned.”
