WORK has started on the £620,000 refurbishment of Bolton Town Hall.
Scaffolding will dominate the appearance of the building for the next 10 months as work is carried out to repair and refurbish the external stonework, glazed brickwork and features.
The refurbishment of the four sides of the hall and the clock tower has been phased to minimise disruption to staff and the public.
Cllr Cliff Morris, Leader of Bolton Council, said: “Although the scaffolding will temporarily affect the appearance of the Town Hall, it will be worthwhile disruption, which will enable us to preserve this historic building for future generations to enjoy.”
The work is part of the council’s ongoing maintenance programme.
