GARY Megson has quashed rumours that Wanderers are about to re-ignite their interest in Miguel Veloso.
The club have continued to be linked with the Portugal international during the present transfer window, despite the manager’s assertion that no move has been made on their part since January.
And, speaking from the club’s pre-season base in Holland, Megson confirmed that the £15million valuation Sporting Lisbon have put on their prized asset is well of out the Whites’ price range.
“We were trying to get Veloso done in January but we’re not capable of doing the kind of deal they are talking about, we’re just not in that league,” he said.
Veloso first appeared on Wanderers’ radar during their two UEFA Cup games in March last year, but when they approached Sporting in January, it was reported the Portuguese giants wanted £17m for their 23-year-old star.
