Local starlet Matthew Fields led Bolton to an impressive sweep of victories in the Greater Manchester Championships.
The Hilton club player, who already holds the Bolton Junior and Preston Junior titles, was in commanding form as he stormed to victory in the boys’ singles — dropping just one set in his seven-match route to the final in which he beat his club and Borough stablemate Krishna Chuhuan.
Bolton, who took the boys’ team title, also took the honours in the girls’ event with Bethany Farnworth proving too strong for her rivals to win the title in style.
It was a significant triumph for the local players who dominated the competition which featured the best from Manchester, Rochdale, Wigan, Oldham, Bury, Trafford, Tameside, Stockport, and Salford.
