VINTAGE shopping has never been more popular and now you don’t have to go into Manchester to find that special one off gown — Rio Kane Designs in Bury Road, Bolton, has everything you could possibly want for a glamorous night out.
Joanne Parker set up the shop in September after she started her business buying one-off dresses and selling them on eBay.
Joanne saw that a former sandwich shop in Bury Road was available to rent and decided to expand. She said: “I completely renovated it and made it a bit more glamorous. I come from an interior design background so just jazzed up the shop and brought in the furniture.”
Rio Kane Designs, named after Joanne’s sons Rio and Kane, is an Aladdin’s cave of glorious outfits. There is something for everyone!
For the girl who needs that perfect prom dress to a fashionista wanting to impress at a fancy dress party, this should be your first stop.
And for those ladies who are scrabbling around for a dress for the Shall We Dance* event — yes, my dancing shoes are ready — then look no further than this shop.
I got to try on a few of the delightful dresses and had a bit of fun with feathers.
For a more formal outing, left, then try this blue feather mask at £13.99, blue prom dress at £39.99 — add the lace gloves at £9.99 if you’re feeling Madonna-esque, and bag a bit of bling with this ring at £5.99 and bracelet at £11.99.
For a Friday or Saturday night out try this red dress, top right, at £29.99, fairy necklace at £6.99, bracelet at £9.99 and bag at £9.99.
Joanne, aged 37, was also once a hairdresser so can sort out your barnet for that big day, especially if you’ve got a prom to attend. She has set up a VIP area in the shop where she can make you look like a star.
So step inside and get the whole package. Or alternatively check out the website www.missriokane designs.com. Here you can get special discounts on some items and free UK delivery. For more information on the shop which is open Tuesday to Saturday, contact Joanne on 07973 421097.
