Anyone who has ever coloured their hair will have the same nightmare with frizz. Yes I admit, I’m not a natural blonde! And the problem is only made worse when the weather is humid. So I went to a salon in Bradshaw which is the first in the North West to offer a revolutionary treatment to help me with my dilemma.
Brazilian Keratin is a treatment which promises to remove frizz from the hair without damaging it.
I was dubious. I’ve always suffered with dry ends and dread seeing my bouffant in holiday snaps.
CoCo Hair Design in Bradshaw Brow treated me to a process to tackle my hair which is permanently in turmoil.
Owner Miranda Heyes explained the treatment: “It’s a permanent blow wave with the natural ingredient Keratin. It’s a deep conditioning treatment and once it’s in you won’t even have to straighten it as there is that much nourishment in the hair.
“The first process is to shampoo it and leave the conditioner in the hair for 10 minutes. Then we put the product on and blow dry and straighten it into the hair.
“Once it’s in, you can’t wash it for three days. You can’t get it wet, pin it back, put clips in it. It will just feel like you’ve left conditioner in your hair but it will be worth it once you wash it.”
Now for the science bit! Keratin is a primary protein of the skin, hair and nails. The substance gives hair the ability to return to its original healthy, smooth, shiny state.
You can even choose how you want your hair to smell — chocolate, strawberry or vanilla.

The results last between two and four months and you can repeat the process which will improve over time.
The treatment starts from £80. So was it worth it?
The verdict

“It’s fantastic. I love it. The treatment was so quick and my hair smelt like chocolate which was delicious.
“Not washing my hair or putting it up nearly killed me (check out my video diary online) but once I could wash it, it felt great.
“I just can’t believe that it now only takes me 10 minutes to dry and straighten my hair, I don’t even have to use my GHDs as the hair dryer does it all which can only help the health of my hair.
“I’m not brushing it as much, which will prevent damage and it’s so easy to style. I don’t even need my frizz ease serum. I definitely recommend it — even at that price. If you’re used to getting your hair salon blow dried each week it will save you a fortune.”
