A HAUL of suspected stolen goods were seized when police swooped a house in Bolton this morning.
At around 7.30am, officers raided the property in Raikes Way, Darcy Lever, where they discovered thousands of pounds worth of electrical equipment including plasma television screens, laptops, and an industrial drill.
The raid was part of a new police operation to reduce the number of break-ins in the town.
A 38-year-man was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen goods and suspicion of possessing class B drugs.
Operation Lockdown will see a special task force patrolling burglary hotspots, gathering intelligence and targetting known burglars over the next three months.
The 25-strong force, which comprises an inspector, three sergeants and 21 constables, will be carrying out search warrants on suspected addresses and recovering possible stolen goods.
Inspector Barry Short, who led the raid, said: “This is the first warrant that we have carried out in Operation Lockdown and follows information from a member of the public who telephoned in.
“We are trying to reduce burglaries and reassure people who have insecurities over the summer months because windows and doors are left open and people go on holiday.”
