A MOTHER has told how she held the hand of a car crash victim as he lay on the ground barely conscious.
Carol Smith and her family were out walking on Sunday when they saw a car smash in St Helens Road, Daubhill.
As reported in The Bolton News yesterday, a silver Subaru Impreza car came out of a side street, into the main road, and spun into railings, throwing the driver and passenger from the vehicle.
Mrs Smith, aged 52, of Weldon Avenue, Daubhill said: “We were walking along the road and then suddenly saw this car come out of a side road. It looked to be going quite fast.
“They seemed to lose control. The car spun in the middle of the road and went into the railings.”
“It was very shocking. I just went to sit next to one of the men in the car, held his hand and talked to him. I just told him to stay with us.
“He wasn’t talking. He seemed almost unconscious. The other man was sitting up but he was losing a lot of blood.”
The two men were yesterday in a critical condition in hospital.
Mrs Smith’s son, Jon-Paul, aged 13, called an ambulance, described where the accident had taken place and what he had seen.
Mrs Smith said: “I’m very proud of my son. He kept very calm. It was quite an upsetting thing to see.”
Police are appealing for witnesses of the accident to contact them on 0161 856 7201.
