LOSTOCK beat Carnforth 39-7 to set up a promotion decider at Preston Grasshoppers on Tuesday night.
Lostock got off to a flyer, running in a trio of early tries from Danny Sheader (two) and Jay Cheetham, then seemed to take the foot off the gas to allow Carnforth more possession.
Some good forward work slowed Carnforth down before Warren Clough scored to ease some of the pressure.
Lostock gave too many penalties away, which would have been costly but for some superb tackling from Shaun Worrall and Warren Clough.
Man-of-the-match Chad Boyce made some stunning runs from full back, and was rewarded with two tries of his own. John Stryker was superb at number eight, and some brilliant back-up play saw him bag another try for the season.
Early in the second half Carnforth scored their only try which they converted. Lostock replied quickly with a try from Ben Clough. Stu Paul contributed with two conversions.
Lostock go into tonight’s promotion-decider at Preston, with their confidence high after narrowly beating the Grasshoppers two weeks ago.
The match kicks off at 7pm and players should be at Preston no later than 6.15pm.
