YOUNG radio enthusiasts are live on air all this week with a special Easter broadcast.
The temporary four day broadcast from Bolton Youth FM is being produced and presented by people aged 14 to 21 from all over Bolton.
It is being led by 18-year-old Darryl Morris, from Horwich, who discovered an interest in radio at Rivington and Blackrod High School and is now working for Galaxy FM.
Darryl, who has been awarded the BBC Young Presenter of the Year Award, said: “This is one of the most exciting projects for young people in Bolton and I am thrilled to be involved.”
Dorothy Martland, who is leading the project, said: “There has been a great buzz in the office. Children have been getting up at 5.30am to come in. It’s a great atmosphere and we would encourage everyone to support us and tune in.” The broadcast comes ahead of the launch of Bolton FM, a community radio station which will go live in June. Bolton Youth FM is broadcasting live between 8am and 10pm on 87.9 FM with pre-recorded programmes overnight.
