Hilton B moved to the top of the Premier Division after their 8-1 win over Tameside, replacing Ramsbottom A who did not play this week.
The win featured trebles by Mark Gibson and Ron Pennington and a double by Neil Pickard. Nomads A registered their third win of the season, 6-3 against Hilton A, who only fielded two players. Little Lever A surprisingly beat Burning Desire A 6-3 with Graham Jeffries their unbeaten player.
Barry Elliott trebled for Wharton who won 6-3 at Radcliffe CC.
Burning Desire B replaced Ramsbottom C on the top of Division One after two 8-1 wins against Hilton D and Heaton C. Ian Quinn trebled in both matches, Kim Barnard against Hilton, and Ben Armstrong at Heaton.
Ramsbottom won 6-3 at Hilton C with Graham Young unbeaten, but are now five points adrift with two matches left.
Ladybridge A also defeated Hilton D 8-1, which featured three wins by Dave Bolton and Craig Bradbury and two by Alex Waring. Withins A scored a comprehensive 8-1 win at Wingates, and Heaton D were credited with a 5-4 win against a two-man Little Lever C.
Division Two’s top team Ramsbottom D won 7-2 at Little Lever D followed by a 6-3 win over Hilton E. Mandy Winskill was their unbeaten player in both matches.
They are three points ahead of Meadow Bank in second place, who scored a 6-3 victory over Heaton E, which featured three wins by Paul Pover.
Meadow Hill A in third spot suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Little Lever for whom Mark Martin scored three wins.
Hilton Tigers, who have climbed from bottom place to fourth spot in the table, beat Farnworth SC A 8-1 with trebles from Rob Hall and Marek Maraszkienicz, and a double from Chris Naylor. Hilton F scored maximum points at Withins B.
Division Three leaders Coburg maintained their unbeaten record with a 9-0 win over Walkden Meths. This was matched by Ladybridge B in second spot, who won 9-0 at Hilton I.
Hilton G, in third place, suffered a rare defeat, 6-3, to BEN B for whom Alan Hibbert and Phil Herd were both unbeaten. The Withins C junior team enjoyed a 5-4 win against Ladybridge C, with two wins by James Young and Beth Farnworth, and one by Aaron Waring. Farnworth SC B were credited with a 7-2 win over Meadow Hill B who only fielded two players.
In a close match, St Paul’s Peel beat fellow Division Four title contenders Heaton H 5-4. The win gives them a six-point advantage, but the Heaton team have a match in hand. Mick Murray and Rory McIntyre both won two sets and Keith Philips one, with Alex Meaney unbeaten for the losers.
Previously Heaton had beaten Farnworth SC C 8-1. Trebles by Colin Roberts, and Phil Beales, and one win by Dave Jones gave Heaton G their 7-2 win at Brass. Hilton K won 6-3 at Hilton L, with two wins by all their three players, Norman Steadman, John Parker and Allan Briggs. The improving Krishna Chauhan won the three sets for the L team.
