THERE was no change at the top of the Premier Division of the Bolton Table Tennis League as the leading clubs each scored 8-1 wins to maintain the six-point gap.
Table-topping Ramsbottom A beat their B team with three wins by Mick Moir and Mark Ramsbottom, and two by Andy Jackson while Hilton B’s win at Little Lever B featured trebles by Ron Pennigton and Dave Pickard and a double by Andy Michnowiec.
Third-placed Wharton also scored an 8-1 win against Hilton A, as did Little Lever A at Nomads A. Glen Payne and Barry Elliott were unbeaten for Wharton, as was Ron Durose and Graham Jeffries for Little Lever.
Burning Desire A’s 7-2 victory over Heaton A featured three wins by Lindsey Reynolds.
At the top of Division One, Burning Desire B closed the gap on leaders Ramsbottom C to five points following their 8-1 victory over Ladybridge A while Ramsbottom scraped home 5-4 against Heaton B. Kim Barnard and Ian Quinn both trebled for Burning Desire, and Steve Barber was unbeaten for Heaton.
Stuart Wallis and Paul Brandwood both had three wins each for Withins, who beat Hilton C 6-3, and Ric Simmons trebled for Little Lever C in their 7-2 win over Wingates. Dave Scowcroft was unbeaten for Heaton C on their win at Nomads B, as was Ady Denson for Heaton D at Hilton D, both matches ending 6-3.
Three wins by Paul Pover, and two by Paul Jackson, gave top second division team Meadow Bank a 5-4 win at Heaton F. Second-placed Meadow Hill A gained one point on the leaders after their 6-3 win at Hilton F with Phil Noden their unbeaten player.
BEN A won 5-4 at Hilton E with three wins by Mike Heaton and two by Rod Hall. Ian Lindley was unbeaten for Farnworth A in their 6-3 victory over Withins B, as was Rob Hall for Hilton Tiger, who won 7-2 at Heaton E.
Coburg march on at the top of Division Three, this week scoring maximum points at Meadow Hill B. Ladybridge B, who lie second, beat Farnworth SC B 8-1 with trebles from John Birchall and Brian Greenhalgh and a brace by John Cole.
Walkden Meths also scored maximum points against Meadow Hill B. Hilton H won 8-1 at Withins B, with three wins by Jean Smart and Richard Reading, plus two by Adele Spibey. Beth Farnworth won the Withins set.
Division Four leaders St Paul’s Peel won 6-3 at Hilton K, with trebles from Mick Murray and Keith Phillips. The Lads Club trio, Tom Barrass, Chris Ahmed and Vince Roberts, all scored two wins in their 6-3 win over Hilton L. Krishna Chauhan was the unbeaten player for the losers.
A Colin Roberts treble and one win apiece for Phil Beales and Dave Jones gave Heaton G their 5-4 win over Irlam. Matt Hood and David Yates each won two for the losers.
