LEIGH Genesis travel to Ilkeston Town tomorrow looking to pick themselves up after a 6-0 mauling by Osset Town in midweek.
Genesis, still struggling in the UniBond Premier Division relegation zone, have brought in striker David Roberts from Vauxhall Motors to challenge Chris Thompson and Phil Marsh for a place in the starting line-up.
Thompson’s loan spell from Blue Square Premier side Barrow ends tomorrow but the Leigh club are hoping to extend it.
The clubs are still in negotiations and are hopeful of reaching an agreement which could see the Warrington-born player remain at Genesis a while longer.
Leigh, with just one win in 14 games, face a tough test at promotion chasing Ilkeston.
FC United manager Karl Marginson has urged the club’s enthusiastic fans to redouble their efforts as the race for the Premier Division promotion play-offs hots up.
Preparing for tomorrow’s game against Buxton at Bury’s Gigg Lane, Marginson said: “The bigger crowds we get the more it helps us achieve our aims.”
Marginson will be forced to make a change in midfield after X-rays revealed that Dave Neville broke his ankle in last weekend’s 2-1 win at Kendal Town.
Neville, who has performed well in recent weeks, is expected to be out for the rest of the season. Radcliffe Borough entertain Lancaster City hoping to end a dismal run of form which has seen them win just one of their last 17 league matches.
Boro have been boosted by the signing of non-contract striker Adam Roscoe, who joined the club permanently after hitting six goals for the Stainton Park outfit.
Their highly rated 18-year-old centre back Craig Dawson will be leaving the club after signing for his home town team Rochdale, although the deal allows him to stay at Radcliffe while they are threatened with relegation from UniBond Division One North.
