IT was an uplifting moment for Bolton mother of two Carol Jolly when she decided to take the risk and open her own specialist bra shop.

But her route into opening her own specialist store, Love Your Fit, in Bury’s Mill Gate Shopping Centre, took her some time.

Mrs Jolly hadn’t worked for years, concentrating instead on being a housewife and bringing up her two children at her Bradshaw home.

Then one day she went into a specialist bra shop in Manchester and ended up walking out with a swimsuit and a job.

After a few years she left and started holding bra fitting parties in women’s homes and was astonished to discover that 90 per cent of the women wore the wrong sized bras.

The success of the parties led her to take the biggest risk in her life and open up her own specialist bra shop where she says women can find the best fitting bras in a variety of fashions.

She has sunk £50,000 into the new venture where she educates women into how to find a bra that fits and sells a wide selection of bras and swimsuits from the major suppliers.

Mrs Jolly, aged 38, said: “My experience working at the Manchester shop and then holding the parties was that around 90 per cent of women leave shops with the wrong fitting bra.

“Lots of women are measured in the shops by bra fitters and they leave with an ill-fitting bra which they don’t question because the saleswoman in the shop said it was right for them.”

Since her shop opened late last year Mrs Jolly has enjoyed a good turnover and is attracting more and more women through word of mouth.

She praised Bolton Business Ventures (BBV) who helped and supported her through thick and thin.

“They helped me setting up the business — I went to all of business advisor Jan Kelly’s workshops which take you through all the things you need to know like employment law, tax and marketing.

“They also gave me great help in getting my business plan together which helped me get finance from the bank. I couldn’t have asked for better help.”
