BURNING Desire A jumped to second spot in the Premier Division with back-to-back wins at Radcliffe CC and Heaton A.
The double victory gave them a one-point advantage over Hilton B who have dropped to third place.
Paul Cicchelli and Lyndsey Reynolds were unbeaten at Heaton as was Nigel Hallows for Radcliffe.
Meanwhile, Hilton B scored an 8-1 win at Nomads A which included trebles by Dave Pickard and Ron Pennington. Table-toppers Ramsbottom A were awarded maximum points after Hilton A failed to turn up for their match.
Three wins by Jake Shaw, plus two by Caroline Hallows, gave Tameside their 5-4 victory over Ramsbottom B and Barry Elliott was unbeaten for Wharton who won 7-2 at Little Lever B.
Burning Desire B closed the gap on Division One leaders Ramsbottom C to two points after their comfortable 8-1 win at Hilton C.
The win featured three wins by Ben Armstrong and Kevin Chapman and two by Dave Smith.
Withins A also scored an 8-1 win against Hilton D with three each from Paul Brandwood and Stuart Wallis plus two from new signing Mark Townsend.
Three wins by Alan Bradbury and two by his brother, John, gave Wingates their 5-4 victory over Nomads B.
Heaton C won at Ladybridge A and Heaton D beat their B team, also 5-4.
Division Two leaders Ramsbottom D suffered their second consecutive defeat, 6-3, at the hands of visitors Meadow Hill A.
Steve Jones trebled for the winners, supported by two victories for Phil Noden and one from Mick Kitchen.
Iain Lindley was unbeaten for Farnworth SC A who went down 6-3 at Heaton F, as was Mike Heaton and Rod Hall for BEN A who beat Withins B 8-1.
Hilton Tigers scored a comprehensive 8-1 victory over Little Lever D with three wins each by Rob Hall and Marek Maraszkiewicz, and a brace by Chris Naylor. Heaton E scraped home 5-4 against Hilton E.
The three top teams in Division Three, Ladybridge B, Coburg and Hilton G, all scored maximum points against Walkden Meths, Hilton H and Ladybridge C respectively, to retain the status quo.
The Hilton I trio, Malcolm Wilcock, Tony Mason and Alan Revell, also earned maximum points against Withins C.
Phil Herd was unbeaten for BEN B who lost 6-3 at Meadow Hill B for whom Roy Platt, Harvey Tench and Jackie Smith all recorded two wins.
Heaton H and St Paul’s Peel, who share top spot in Division Four on 84 points, both recorded 8-1 wins. Heaton’s victory at Hilton J included trebles by Alex Meany and Jonathan Clough and a brace by Martin Hulton.
St Paul’s beat Hilton L with three wins by Mick Murray and Reece McIntyre and two by Keith Philips Brass scraped a 5-4 victory over Hilton K with Eugene Mutwbwa scoring three wins and Santin Thien two.
Peter Crawshaw got two and Ron Ainsworth and John Parker one each for the losers.
