LEIGH Genesis striker Phil Marsh added spice to today’s UniBond Premier Division clash at FC United by surprisingly turning down a move to the Rebels.
Marsh, who is 22 and began his career as a trainee with Manchester United, scored his first league goal for Leigh in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Hednesford Town, having scored twice previously in cup competitions, and has earned rave reviews in the nine appearances he has made since joining Genesis in December.
FC United issued a seven-day period of notice, as required by league rules, that they wished to sign Marsh in time for today’s clash at Gigg Lane, but, after deliberation with his advisors, fans-favourite Marsh chose to remain with Leigh.
