RON Pennington claimed a decisive treble as Hilton B scored a 6-3 victory over Ramsbottom B to move to within three points of Ramsbottom A at the top of the Premier Division.
Rammy B bounced back from the defeat with an 8-1 win against Little Lever B, with Brian Clements and Khamal Hussain each scoring a treble.
The clash between the two bottom teams Nomads A and Heaton A resulted in a 5-4 win for Nomads, giving them a one-point advantage over their rivals, despite Heaton’s Paul Ward ending the match unbeaten.
Lyndsey Reynolds and Paul Ciccheli each scored three wins for Burning Desire A in their 6-3 victory over Tameside, as did Barry Elliott for Wharton who beat Heaton A 7-2.
Division One leaders Ramsbottom C beat Ladybridge A 6-3 with trebles from Graham Young and Martin Holt. The win gave Rammy a 10-point advantage over Burning Desire B in second spot.
Burning Desire scraped home 5-4 against third-placed Withins A. The win featured a treble by Ian Quinn which included the scalp of the previously unbeaten Paul Brandwood.
Three wins by Dave Scowcroft and two by Duncan Kay gave Heaton C a 5-4 win over their D team. Heaton B beat Wingates 6-3 and Hilton D scored a 5-4 win over Little Lever C.
Ramsbottom D, who top the Second Division, were surprisingly beaten 5-4 by lowly Farnworth SC A for whom Iain Lindley won three.
Meadow Bank, five points adrift in second spot, closed the gap with a 7-2 win at Withins B. A Richard Hinchcliffe treble plus doubles from Paul Pover and Paul Whyatt did the trick for Meadow Bank.
Steve Jones was unbeaten in Meadow Hill A’s 6-3 victory over BEN A, as was Mark Martin for Little Lever D who beat Heaton E by the same score.
Hilton Tigers continued their winning ways with a 7-2 win at Hilton F with Rob Hall and Marek Maraszkiewicz both scoring three wins. Mike Dunn trebled for Heaton F who won 5-4 at Hilton E.
Ladybridge B went top of Division Three after taking maximum points from Meadow Hill B. That left Coburg, who had a free week, five points behind with a match in hand.
Hilton G consolidated third spot with a 7-2 win over their H team, which included three wins by Tim Fields.
Farnworth SC B scored maximum points at Withins C.
BEN B’s Phil Herd was unbeaten in their 6-3 victory over Hilton I, as was Steve Kelsall for Walkden Meths who won at Ladybridge C by the same score.
In Division Four, the 6-3 win by St Paul’s Peel brought them level on points with Heaton H at the top of the table. The win featured a Mick Murray treble.
Hilton J, in third place, beat their K team 5-4 with two wins by Gordon Stone and Les Clough and one by Malcolm Rose.
Farnworth won 5-4 at Hilton L with Ian Westmoreland’s treble decisive. Eugene Mutebwa was unbeaten for Brass who lost 6-3 at the Lads Club. Chris Ahmed, Jonny Taylor and Roy Isherwood all scored doubles for the winners.
