CHILDREN were having a swinging time in a Bolton park almost 20 years ago thanks to the efforts of grandmother Mrs Elsie Fitzharris who is pictured left.
Mrs Fitzharris, of Dunoon Drive, who is disabled, complained to her MP Peter Thurnham about damaged swings in Barlow Park, Sharples, in August 1989.
Mr Thurnam, Tory MP for Bolton North East wrote to Bolton Council about the problem and new swings were put in the park.
In our picture, Mrs Fitzharris enjoys watching her grandchildren and their friends playing in the park.
