If your make-up bag is feeling the effects of the credit crunch and you’re desperately squeezing the remnants of your lip gloss out of the tube to save pennies, then you’re going to have to invest in a make-up palette.

Gone are the horror combinations of the 1980s, these days the shades actually have some bearing in the modern day beauty world.

Technic’s lip and eye shimmer palette is great for a quick fix and the colours are on trend. My favourite is the gold and browns which were perfect for day wear. With eight eyeshadows, four lip glosses, applicator brush and handy mirror it really is credit crunch beauty at its best.

Make sure you’ve applied a good base, as with any cream shadow, they can slide, but I found this made it great for blending. The lip colours were lovely too, although there wasn’t much staying power, meaning multiple applications.
